Maincrop potato harvest

Last year I harvested about 35kg main potatoes from a 10’x4’x12” raised bed. At the time I was disappointed as was expecting much more but was talking to someone about it who said that was a decent crop for the size bed. How much do you guys get per 2kg bag or similar size bed?

Hi Spud,

Can you elaborate a little.
Were these maincrop or earlies? What varities did you plant and what spacing did you use?
When did you plant and when did you harvest?

Don.

Hi Don, These were main crop “picaso” potatoes, a variety bred from Cara. I planted them on 14 Apr and harvested the first or second week in september. There were a lot of smaller potatoes but I harvested when I did because the foliage was dying back and I noticed a few potatoes that were eaten by slugs so I wanted to get them out to avoid them being destroyed.

Wow, lots of figures.
To be honest I’ve no idea but I’m still eating what I grew which is a positive metric for me.
