Tip of the Week – Tomato Plant Spacing

In last week’s column I mentioned that I plant my tomatoes 50cm apart. A good friend to GIY in Waterford, Alan Pimm who has many year’s experience of growing, responded to say that he thinks 60cm spacing would be more appropriate (and that they don’t get enough light and air if too close). He also suggests planting French marigolds in amongst the tomato plants to reduce the risk of white fly taking over.
