last year i planted my carrots using a fencing boards, i put fencing boards flat on raised bed, i arranged the boards about one inch apart and in between sowed may seed, i let boards remain on soil. this was a great slug trap and kept weeds down, after i had the carrots thinned and they were around six inches high i removed boards . i had rows of good upright carrots and not a weed or slug in sight,

    When the carrots emerge what is the best way to thin them and at what height should one thin them , newbie here so all tips are welcome.

  • hello cathy ,i usually thin carrots as soon as possible, some people leave them for while and use the thinnings in salads. i am no expert.
